Did you always dream of being a florist and how did your journey begin in floristry?

SM

"I did not dream of being a florist. I fell into it, I was a painter/artist and one thing lead to another and the universe had plans for me".

OM

Where is your shop/studio located and what style would you say bests describes it?

SM

"Our studio is in Murrumbeena. It is a warehouse and looks pretty uninhibited from the outside, which suits us perfectly. Theres an element of simplicity but with all the different jobs that we do it is very rare that there is one style that is happening on the inside".

OM

What does a day look like in the life of Fleur?

SM

"No day is ever the same - however you can guarantee that the mornings will start with everyone watching their tarot on youtube. We are OBSESSED! It just depends on if its an office day, a meeting day or an event day".

OM

What inspires your creativity?

SM

"Ideas just come to me wherever, whenever. I can never be sure!"

OM

What are your top three flowers to work with and why?

SM

"I love roses, ranunculus and blossom. Anything that is round and fat is my favourite. Things that look the most full and luscious".

OM

What is your favourite perfume?

SM

"Surge Letens - Fleur d’oranger ".

OM

If you were a flower what would it be and why?

SM

"A Gardenia I think. I’m a little bit pedantic, but in a good way".

OM

What is the highlight of your career to date?

SM

" I think just being a girl from Melbourne who has a book selling and selling out in places like London, New York and LA".

OM

What advice would you give to people new to floristry?

SM

" Don’'t think too much about what you’re doing. As soon as you overthink you stop creating. Allow signs and messages from the universe and just let things flow as they happen".

OM

Do you have a favourite moment in your studio or shop you would like to tell us about?

SM

"It’s definitely going to have to remain a secret. Sorry :) ".

OM
